Scripture Reading

Judges 1:1-3:6

Lesson 1: Choices and Consequences

We begin our new lesson series this week, Glimmers of Hope in Dark Times: Judges and Ruth.[1] Please read the selected weekly Scripture before arriving to your LifeGroup. This adult Bible study will challenge us to think about the far reaching impact of our decisions. Israel experienced cycles of judgement and deliverance as a result of their choices. During those dark times of sin and failure, God heard the cry of His people. He established judges to deliver them from their evil oppressors. Nevertheless, Israel determined to do that which was right in their own eyes (Judges 21:25). Therefore, they suffered immensely for their waywardness and selfishness.

Obedience is not always easy because it is goes against the tide of popular culture. But, following God is the right choice. As the last days of the Church become increasingly darker, we must stop finding new trends to follow, people to admire, and things to possess. Your life belongs to Jesus.
