Many believers mentioned in Hebrews 11 suffered greatly because of their faithfulness to God. These individuals valued faith above their comfort, often beyond their physical health. Furthermore, Bullinger reminds us: “Certain as were their present sufferings, God’s Word was no less certain, and their faith enabled them to prefer the certain future and glorious resurrection to a continued life on earth, especially in the times in which they were then living.”[1] It is faith that conquers our fears and feelings.
