Passage: John 13:1 – 17

1. In verse 8 Jesus tells the Disciples that He must wash their feet or they have no part in Him. Why do you think we can’t simply wash ourselves?

2. Jesus tells them in verse 10 that while the washing of feet is what matters, washing the rest is unnecessary as the person is already clean. What do you think Jesus meant by this, and are Christians today still trying to wash themselves as Peter wanted to do?

3. What is the significance of Jesus waiting until after dinner to begin washing their feet, instead of when they had first entered the building as was customary? You can be sure the timing was not an accident.

4. Application: Jesus washed the feet of everyone there, even Judas who He knew would betray Him. As a servant of God, who’s feet will you wash (metaphorically) this week whether they deserve it or not?

5. Additional discussion question (from Pastor): Jesus washed the disciples feet as an example for us to follow (John 13:15-17). What are some PRACTICAL ways you can follow His example in humbly serving others?

Jesus served them all, even Judas who would betray Him.

Passage: Titus 3:8

1. Take a moment to look at the contrast of unprofitable things in verse 9. Why are these things unprofitable and do we make a point of avoiding them?

2. What is the faithful saying of verse 8 and why must it be constantly affirmed?

3. What makes our works good and profitable?

4. Verse 8 is a call to the exhorting of believers unto good works. Can you identify some times when we must switch from being the exhorted to being the exhorter?

5. Are people around you profiting from your good works?

6. Application: What good works are you maintaining for the Lord’s sake? If you can’t honestly say you have a ministry, what will you do for the Lord and when will you begin doing it?

Passage: 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

1. What do you think God’s purpose was in not fully revealing these mysteries in the Old Testament?

2. What are some of our duties as stewards of the mysteries of God? Also, what happens if we fail in that stewardship?

3. What has been the impact on the world since the revealing of these mysteries?

4. Is the stewardship of these mysteries a task of the professional clergy of the church, or of each of us regardless of our place in the body of Christ?

5. Application: God’s mysteries are not revealed so that we may hide them again, so how do we tell people about these mysteries?

Passage: Luke 12:16-21

1. In verse 16, we read that this man’s ground brought forth bountifully. For what reason did God bless this man with such abundance?

2. In verse 20, we see that this man is condemned and will not live to enjoy his wealth. God asks him an interesting question: “Whose shall these things be, which thou hast provided?” What do you think God wanted that man to realize by asking that?

3. In verse 17, we read this man reasoning out what he will do with the wealth that has been given him. Do you think he would have acted differently if, instead of trusting his own wisdom, he would have asked a man of God for counsel? If you came into a large sum of money, would you ask the Preacher for his counsel?

4. Application: In this passage, this man decides to keep his wealth for himself and use it as his retirement fund. Seeing that God condemned him for that, what should he have done differently? Are you setting aside more for your own future comfort than you give to God?
