Passage:  2 Kings 4:38-41

1.  What do you think the wild vine in v. 39 represents, especially in contrast to the true vine of John 15?  What are some things that motivated the servant in verse 39 to pick the wild gourds?

2.  Is the dearth in the land more or less severe today, spiritually speaking?  What causes this, and what is the result?

3.  What finally caused the realization that something was wrong with the food?  Why is it so difficult for people today to realize when they have been fed something poisonous?

4.  Why did they cry out to Elisha instead of seeking a physician?  What can we learn from their example?

5.  Application:  What are the dangers of seeking wisdom in the world?  How can we discern if something is true or not before we swallow it?

6.  Application:  The study of types in Scripture opens a whole new level of understanding and appreciating God’s Word.  If you aren’t studying them, what has stopped you?
