Suggested Icebreaker: If you could raise one person from the dead, whom would you raise and why?

*** Summarize this week’s message using the Pastor’s Sermon Notes ***

Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

1.  Why should/shouldn’t the church avoid God’s wrath on the Day of the Lord?  What promise do you see for Christians in verse 9?

2.  What do you think will cause the lost to say “peace and safety” right before God’s wrath falls on them?

3.  If the church will not be present for the Day of the Lord, why is it important that we watch and stay sober?

4.  How should Christians respond to the promise of grace found in verse 10?

5.  Application:  There have been many people over the years who have claimed to know when the Rapture will occur, despite the Bible clearly stating that we cannot know.  How should Christians respond to such claims?  How should we respond to the imminence of Christ’s return?

6.  Application:  Knowing that all these things are coming and that the lost are appointed to wrath, why are we not moved to strive even harder in sharing the gospel with the lost?
