Passage: Luke 23:26

1.  Carrying a cross requires enormous effort and complete focus on the path laid out before you, so why have you chosen this for yourself?

2.  We might tend to see Simon as a victim in this passage and overlook the opportunity that was given Him to do a great service for Christ.  When God comes with a cross for you to bear, do you focus on the suffering and not the service?  Why or why not?

3.  Initially, Simon had chosen to be simply another bystander, and had to be compelled to serve.  How ought we be different?

4.  Application:  Taking up your cross, denying yourself and following Christ is easier said than done!  How would you tell a new Christian to go about accomplishing it?
