While Jesus was present with them, all their needs were provided. Just before Jesus was arrested to be crucified He asked His disciples, “When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.” (Luke 22:35).
Thomas is like the guy that if you tell him there are 581,678,934,341 stars in the universe, he’ll believe you. But if you show him a sign that reads “Fresh Paint” he must make a personal investigation before he believes it!
He came when they were assembled together. There was still some cohesiveness among them. Thank God, there are still some who believe in assembling with other believers to exhort one another (Heb. 10:25).
Jesus joined in their conversation. What if Jesus joined you in your conversations with others? Would the topics of your conversation embarrass you? If you knew Jesus was standing among those you talk with, would your conversation be different?
Paul asked King Agrippa, “Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?” (Acts 26:8). For the God who created the universe, it is no big deal for Him to raise the dead!
