Lesson 1: Priority for Living

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

Failure to properly establish personal priorities can be crippling. Many people live in an electrically charged atmosphere of competing priorities. The competing demands create an atmosphere of frustration. The result of failure to eliminate the competition is burnout. Other people live in a chaos of confused priorities. They seem unable to make choices, and their circumstances control them.[1]

This opening lesson will lay the groundwork for gleaning wisdom from the Proverbs of King Solomon. Next week, we will begin to dig into various passages in this deep well of knowledge and wisdom. Understanding the Lord’s plan and purpose for your life will keep your priorities consistent with eternal values. Strive to glorify God first, and everything else will fall into place.
